The Town of Cheverly Requires Residential Recycling

There are many inherent valuable reasons and facts that ought to make recycling a deep-seated characteristic of our daily life. It is thought-provoking to recognize that such an effortless act impacts us all independently, as a community, as a nation and as citizens of our planet.

Every ton of mixed-recycle, materials collected and disposed of at the recycling station saves the municipality $59. In a year, in our Town, that amounts to around thirty thousand dollars in savings. That is property tax money that does not need to be budgeted for tipping fees and buried at the landfill; but much more can be done. Many residents are still continuing to place their recycles inside their refuse containers. This is unacceptable. The Town of Cheverly is a Mandatory Recycle Community.

Recycling

All recycling bins need to be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on Wednesdays, or after 7:00 pm the night before. PW does not do a specific route, so they will not be picking up your trash at a specific time each day. We are no longer doing late recycling pickup, so if you miss it, you miss it.  You will have to wait until the next scheduled pick up for your location.

re

Regular Household Recycling.

You can now combine your recyclables. Use either blue or yellow bins to place plastic, paper, glass, newspaper, and cardboard together for collection on Wednesday. There is no need to separate these items. Excess materials can be placed next to bin in paper bags (labeled as RECYCLING) Please rinse all food and beverage containers prior to placing them in the container.
