Notes
September 30, 2020 – 7:30pm
Via Zoom

Attendees:     John LeGloahec, Chair
                      Robin Kaye
                      Joseph Pruden

Following an initial mix-up about the scheduling of the next meeting of the Board of Election Supervisors, the three members met briefly via conference call.

The following items were discussed.

  • John LeGloahec will contact Skip Cornbrooks, the Cheverly Town Attorney to seek his assistance in drafting the Charter Amendment revisions, with the hope of having the language ready for submitting to the Town Council at its meeting on October 8.
  • Robin Kaye will draft language for a message to be sent to other local and nearby municipalities who have implemented non-citizen voter statutes to discuss the logistics of implementing such an ordinance in the Town of Cheverly if it is enacted.  LeGloahec also noted that he will ask Mr. Cornbrooks for contacts in other municipalities for which he has assisted in enacting such an ordinance.
  • Joseph Pruden will draft language for other local and nearby municipalities who have implemented a vote by mail and/or early voting to determine the feasibility of enacting an ordinance for the Town of Cheverly.  Again, LeGloahec noted that Mr. Cornbrooks has worked with a number of municipalities to adopt a vote by mail system, and he will seek Mr. Cornbrooks guidance on this as well.  LeGloahec also noted that Council Member Radloff had provided the board with a presentation by the City of Rockville and Frostburg, Maryland, who have enacted a vote by mail system.
  • Joseph Pruden has been in touch with the County Board of Elections about the Town of Cheverly receiving a ballot box, for which early voting may be utilized, if the amendment change allowing for early voting is enacted.
