Candidate Information
Who Can Run?
Candidates for Mayor must be:
- at least 25 years of age on or before election day
- a citizen of the United States
- a registered voter of Cheverly
- a resident of Cheverly for not less than 6 months preceding the election
Candidates for Town Council must be:
- at least 21 years of age on or before election day
- a citizen of the United States
- a registered voter of Cheverly
- a resident of Cheverly for not less than 6 months preceding the election
- a resident of the Ward for which they are running for not less than 45 days preceding the election
Filing Instructions
Candidates must file a Nominating Petition and a Financial Disclosure form. Completed forms must be submitted no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, March 17, 2023.
Forms may be downloaded here or obtained from the Town Hall during business hours.
Candidate Profile
Candidate photos and profiles must be submitted to Town Hall by 5:00 pm on Friday, March 17, 2023 to be included in the April Cheverly newsletter. This is not a requirement for filing for candidacy.
- Photo should be a closeup - must be cropped to about 2”x2” -- submitted as a JPEG file.
- Profile should be brief - no longer than 350 words – submitted as a WORD document. Profiles will appear as written. They will not be edited or corrected unless the profile exceeds the word limit, in which case the staff will shorten it by cutting off at the paragraph closest to the limit.
Please submit completed forms and required materials by the deadline to election@cheverly-md.gov or in-person at Town Hall during business hours.
