Cheverly Police Seeks Input on its New Use of Force Policy

As part of our commitment to transparent, 21st Century Policing, the Cheverly Police Department is seeking community and staff input on its new Use of Force policy, which can be found below. On Wednesday, February 17th, 2021 at 7:30 pm, the department’s Use of Force Policy Consultant, Ms. Ganesha Martin, Esq. will be hosting a virtual community town hall to discuss the policy and answer questions related to the same. Zoom information can be found below. Additionally, Ms. Martin will be conducting community outreach and meeting with community stakeholders, to include but not limited to, Mayor & Council, and the Police Chief’s Advisory Board’s Policy Committee, to foster engagement and receive community input and better understand Cheverly’s values. The policy will be up until March 15th, 2021, at 12:00 AM. Thereafter, the comment period will close. Please feel free to share this policy with any one you see fit. Ms. Martin will begin engagement after the policy has been up for 10 business days to ensure residents have had the chance to review it.
