  • Welcome
     
  • Review and Approve October 2021 Minutes
    • Meeting minutes approved
       
  • Planning Board Goals for 2022
    • Opened discussion. Determined that this is something that we should discuss next month. Follow up: Carryover to December meeting. In addition, do we want to establish goals around tracking Sector Plan implementation priorities and advancing trails?
       
  • Advancing Trail Connections
    • Council submitted request to County for budget priorities for 2022
    • The mayor mentioned that it may be possible for County/Bladensburg/Cheverly to share construction costs
    • Margaret testified at the Park and Planning Budget Hearing. WABA followed up with Margaret to express their support, and recommended that Councilmember Ivey continue to advocate for this through DPWT.
       
  • 1201 Claybrick Road (DC Metro Bus Depot)
    • The town’s attorney submitted an opposition letter to the County.
    • The mayor met with the County executive on October 16. The town would like the County Executive to meet with the Mayor to discuss our objection to diesel/idling.
    • Follow up: Mayor Munyeneh is asking Cheverly residents to consider attending the Prince George's Planning Board hearing scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 18th and express opposition to the development. The town will be submitting petition that was signed by 300 people.


       
  • Hospital Hill Updates
    • Mayor reached out to RDA (because the closing date for proposals was end of September and only one developer reached out to us)
    • Follow Up: They haven’t finished going through proposals but will give the town an update later in the month
       
  • Climate Action Plan
    • Resident Laila Riazi discussed goals related to the Climate Action Plan, which will reduce the effect of greenhouse gases.
    • The draft plan was released yesterday and public comments are due on December 1. The Goal is to have carbon neutrality by 2050 to align with state projections. There’s an emphasis on natural areas and on justice/equity and health.
    • Follow up- Planning board will share an email with thoughts on this matter. Joyce will confirm this approach with Dylan.
       
  • Sustainable Communities
    • To keep our designation, we must complete the report with efforts taken by town regarding green activities. Required for grant funding.
    • Follow up- Work with the Cheverly Green Committee to detail the town’s green initiatives.
