  1. Planning Board Members in Attendance: Joyce Tsepas, Kobie Pruitt, Margaret MacDonnell, Abel Olivo, Fred Price, Barbara Brown
  2. June 2021 Minutes Approved
  3. Pope Funeral Home Text Amendment
    1. New use proposed at 4701 Lydell Road
    2. Town has prepared an MOU with Pope Funeral Home and asked for feedback from the Green Infrastructure Committee and PB. In addition to recommendations from the Green Infrastructure Committee (shared with members of the Planning Board), the PB would like the Town to inquire about the following:
      1. Is RDA aware of the future use, considering that Lydell is one of the two entrances to Hospital Hill redevelopment?
      2. What is the anticipated funeral procession frequency/size and should the town consider a police escort to control the intersection at Lydell and Kenilworth when there is a procession? 
    3. Action Item: Joyce to share feedback with the Green Infrastructure Committee and draft a joint letter to the Town with MOU clarification questions/recommendations.
  4. Advancing Trail Connections
    1. The PB would like to continue to advance the following trails:
      1. Town of Cheverly to Anacostia: Through Craftsman Building easement and along Kenilworth (based on 30% plan set prepared by M-NCPPC and Toole Design Group).
      2. Metro Station to Old Fourth Ward: Along utility right of way to Jutewood as outlined in MWCOG/M-NCPPC station access study. Note that the resolution for Addison Road development included language about providing recreational facilities and trail connections to Metro: file:///C:/Users/tsepasj/Downloads/DSP-17023%20Planning%20Board%20Resolution%2018-65%20(1).pdf 
    2. Action Item: Margaret will follow-up with Robert Patten (DPR) regarding a walk/bike tour of these two potential connections. Margaret will follow-up with the Mayor regarding a communication to SHA requesting a meeting regarding use of state roadways for bike facilities.
  5. Updates
    1. Hospital Site Redevelopment Status
      1. Action Item: Joyce will follow-up with the Town Administrator to obtain a copy of the letter that the Town submitted to RDA with considerations from the Green Infrastructure Committee and PB to be included in the upcoming mid-July developer solicitation. 
    2. 1201 Claybrick Road (Capitol Heights) Status
      1. The Mayor thinks it may be a good idea for the PB to start preparing a list of recommendations that we would like to see onsite (e.g. solar panels, green infrastructure, etc.).
      2. The PB is curious to learn whether there is organized opposition to this project from the County to the District of Columbia.
    3. Reserved Open Space Request to County (Countywide Map Amendment) Status
      1. Action Item: Joyce will follow-up with the Town Administrator on the status of this request to change the underlying zoning of existing public parks to ROS.
