An Ordinance whereby the Mayor and Council Amends its Vehicles and Traffic Ordinance Regarding Residential Area Permit Parking
 
  • WHEREAS, the Mayor and Town Council consider it necessary to amend and update the specified residential parking areas; and
  • WHEREAS, the Mayor and Town Council deem it appropriate to amend Chapter 27, § 5.1, Residential Area Permit Parking, to eliminate certain zone areas.
  • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Town Council, in regular session assembled, that Section 27-5.1 of the Cheverly Code be amended as follows:
 
VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC
 
§ 27-5.1. - Residential area permit parking.
(o) The town administrator is authorized to make provisions for:
(1) The issuance of temporary parking permits for periods up to thirty (30) days to bona fide visitors of residents of a designated residential parking area; and
(2) The issuance of exemption parking permits to handicapped persons.
(p) Any person who shall violate any provisions of this section shall, upon conviction, be subject to punishment by a fine of not more than one hundred dollars ($100.00).
(q) Residential permit parking areas:
(1) Zone 1: 61st, 62nd and 64th Avenues (Ward 4), and State Street.
(2) Zone 2: 6000 block of Euclid Street and 2600 block of Cheverly Avenue.
(3) Zone 3: 2200, 2300 and 2400 blocks of Cheverly Avenue.
(4) Zone 4: Arbor Street, Crestlawn Avenue, and 2200 and 2300 blocks of Parkway.
(5) Zone 5: 2300 block of Belleview Avenue.
(6) Zone 6: 2300, 2400 and 2500 blocks of Lake Avenue and Benton Road.
(7) Zone 7. 2400 block of Valley Way.
(8) Zone 8: 5600, 5700 and 5900 blocks of Lockwood Road; 3200 and 3300 blocks of Tremont Avenue; 5600 block of Jason Street; 5900 block of Medical Terrace; and that portion of Belleview Avenue fronting the lot known as 3300 Belleview Avenue.

  • AND BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days from the date of its adoption; provided, however that a fair summary of the Ordinance is published at least once in a newspaper of general circulation in the Town of Cheverly.
  • INTRODUCED by the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Cheverly, Maryland, at a regular meeting on April 10, 2013, at which meeting copies were available to the public for inspection.
  • ADOPTED by the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Cheverly, Maryland, at a regular meeting on June 13, 2013, at which meeting copies were available to the public for inspection.
