ORDINANCE O-1-13
Code of the Town of Cheverly
 
An Ordinance whereby the Mayor and Council Amends its Personnel Ordinance Regarding Conduct of Employees.
 
  • WHEREAS, the Mayor and Town Council consider it necessary to add further definition to violations constituting immediate grounds for dismissal; and
  • WHEREAS, the Mayor and Town Council deem it appropriate to amend Chapter 21, Section 14, § f, Conduct of Employees, to include the following additional violations.
  • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Town Council, in regular session assembled, that Section 21-14 (f) of the Cheverly Code be amended as follows:
PERSONNEL
 
§ 21-14.        Conduct of Employees.
(f) Violation of any provision of this section may constitute immediate grounds for dismissal. In addition, the following may constitute grounds for dismissal or suspension:
(1)Misfeasance, malfeasance or nonfeasance in performance of duties.
(2)Violation of law, official rules, regulations or orders, or failure to obey any lawful or reasonable direction when such action amounts to insubordination or serious breach of discipline.
(3)Conviction of a felony or of any infamous or disgraceful offense.
(4)Willful or repeated negligence in performing duties or conduct unbecoming an employee of the town.
(5)Conduct subversive to the laws of the town, state or nation.
(6)Sustained conduct detrimental to the efficiency and morale of other town employees.
(7)Misuse of public funds.
(8)Falsifying ANY STATEMENT, ANY TOWN reports or records ,OR CAUSING OR KNOWINGLY ALLOWING SUCH A FALSE STATEMENT, REPORT OR RECORD.
(9)Intoxication while on duty.
(10)Absence from work without being in an authorized leave status.
(11) SLEEPING WHILE ON DUTY.

  • AND BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days from the date of its adoption; provided, however that a fair summary of the Ordinance is published at least once in a newspaper of general circulation in the Town of Cheverly.
  • INTRODUCED by the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Cheverly, Maryland, at a regular meeting on February 14, 2013, at which meeting copies were available to the public for inspection.
  • ADOPTED by the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Cheverly, Maryland, at a regular meeting on April 11, 2013, at which meeting copies were available to the public for inspection.
