Town Seal Design Update

Update
Last week the latest options for the Town seal design were presented at the council work session. The script, the leaf and the town designs were shared as well as the results from the last community survey.

Over 450 community members participated in the survey. The most popular design was the script followed by the leaf.

Council members will vote on the design at the upcoming council meeting, based on this vote the design team and the Town Seal Commission will update the design based on community feedback and produce a style guide for how the seal can be used, including mock ups and color scheme.

Script Design:
With a nod to Cheverly’s history, this design incorporates the lettering used on the prominent Cheverly sign. The script brings a human, hand drawn feel, while the connecting lines that form a circle represent community and togetherness. The blue-green color signifies nature, and the seal’s openness feels classic, clean, and bright.

Leaf Design:
Cheverly has a remarkable amount of green space and tree canopy. This seal showcases that with the leaf of a Chestnut Oak — Cheverly’s town tree. Its veins represent the community and its unique shape catches the eye. With bold color and strong, symmetrical forms, this design carries gravitas while feeling contemporary.

Town Design:
Honoring the heritage of traditional seal design, this landscape incorporates some of the best aspects of Cheverly — beautiful trees, rolling hills, streams, and fireworks. The perspective pulls the viewer in and feels welcoming. There are two slightly different options — one with a simple treeline in the background, and one with a skyline of Cheverly building. Both options are surrounded by strong, timeless typography, set in a deep, forest green.
