Recycle Solar Eclipse Glasses at Town Hall
Posted on: April 12, 2024 - 12:13pm
We hope you (safely) enjoyed the eclipse! Now, you might wonder, what's the best way to dispose of these glasses?
You can recycle them at Town Hall, 6401 Forest Road, Cheverly, MD, and we will donate
them to Astronomers Without Borders (read more about how your donation works below).
Recycling your solar eclipse glasses is easy and convenient. Just drop them off in the
Recycle Solar Eclipse Glasses Box located at Town Hall (see picture of the drop-off box below).
Our office will get them to the appropriate destination, ensuring a hassle-free process for you.
Information on Astronomers Without Borders:
Astronomers Without Borders has been running a recycling program since 2008. The campaign redistributes glasses to people in other countries for upcoming eclipses. Warby Parker has become a partner in their efforts, and you can drop off your glasses at any location! The eclipse glasses will be sent to schools in Latin America so that children can view the October 2024 annular eclipse.
- Warby Parker Program (https://tinyurl.com/donate-solar-eclipse-glasses): Glasses must be donated by April 26th.
- Eclipse Glasses USA collects used glasses via mail. Glasses must be mailed to them by July 26th.
