PUBLIC SAFETY UPDATE

March 8, 2024

Dear Residents,

I hope this message finds you well. I want to provide you with an update on public safety in Cheverly.

Since the beginning of February until March 6, 2024, there have been eight verified crimes reported in our town:

  • Four cases of theft
  • One incident of vandalism
  • Two domestic incidents, with one resulting in an arrest

Our local law enforcement authorities are actively investigating these incidents to ensure the safety and security of our community.

In addition to addressing these incidents, we are also working on bringing new officers to the town to support our move to twenty-four-hour policing. This initiative aims to enhance our ability to respond promptly to any safety concerns and provide around-the-clock protection for our residents.

Furthermore, you may have noticed and already received tickets from the cameras on Route 202. We are excited about this addition to our community as it plays a significant role in keeping the public safe by enforcing traffic laws and promoting responsible driving habits.

I also want to remind you not to forget about our upcoming Public Safety Forum, tentatively scheduled for April. This forum will provide an opportunity for residents to voice their concerns, ask questions, and engage in discussions about public safety in our community.

Additionally, please tune into the upcoming State of Cheverly Address, where we will provide comprehensive information regarding public safety initiatives and updates.

Your safety and well-being remain our top priority, and we are committed to taking proactive measures to ensure a safe and secure environment for all residents.

While we continue to see that our community is safe, particularly in comparison to our neighbors and the county, we do not want to lose momentum in calling attention to public safety. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation in keeping Cheverly safe.

Sincerely,

Mayor Munyeneh
