Community Update: Cheverly Avenue

On 10/8/2023, Prince George’s County Police Officers and detectives from Division I responded to the 2700 block of Cheverly Avenue, Cheverly, MD, for a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located the Victim outside, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. The Victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and has since been released from the hospital.
Hyattsville Division I investigators conducted an investigation and identified all involved parties. The preliminary investigation revealed the parties involved were known to each other, and the suspect shot the victim during a dispute.
On 10/20/23, investigators conducted a court-ordered search and seizure warrant at the suspect's residence. The suspect was taken into custody without incident, and four (4) firearms were recovered. The suspect has admitted his involvement in the shooting. He is charged with attempted 1st-degree murder and related charges. He is in custody and awaiting presentation to a district court commissioner.
