Town Concrete Repairs and Asphalt Repaving

public works

The Town has contracted with VMP Construction Inc. to do various concrete repairs to sidewalks, curbs, and gutters. Work is scheduled to begin on or about May 11, 2022, weather permitting. This work is anticipated to take several weeks to complete. VMP will also be repaving certain streets based upon condition and upcoming utility work.

WSSC has a large sewer rehabilitation project scheduled to start later this year that includes much of the East side of the Town, and there will be significant trenching in various streets. To minimize WSSC disturbing new asphalt, the road resurfacing focus this Spring is on the West side of the Town. Please note that significant areas of sidewalk are scheduled to be repaired on the East Side, including Laurel Avenue, Wayne Place, 62nd Place. Sidewalks, curbs, and gutters are being evaluated for replacement and repair as streets are resurfaced. The following roadway sections are being scheduled for work:

  • 6000 Block of Kilmer Street (from Cheverly Avenue to Lake Avenue).
  • Greenleaf Road (Forest Road to Crest) and Forest Road intersection to include some water issues and add crosswalks.
  • Valley Way and Euclid Street to incorporate recent catch basin work.
  •  Carlyle Street.
  • Approved speed humps on Lockwood Road (3 additional humps), Carlyle Street (1 hump), and Dewey Street (2 humps) will be installed.
  • Approved raised crosswalk at Euclid Street and Cheverly Avenue will be installed.
  • Various additional sidewalk repairs will be included based upon remaining funding.

Please note that while Public Works does record requested concrete and asphalt work, but not all requests can be immediately addressed and areas are prioritized based on condition, safety, impending utility company work, and efficiencies of combining work such as sidewalks, curbs, and gutters when resurfacing a street.

VMP will be posting no parking signs 48 hours in advance of work and will use traffic control devices when necessary. Please be patient with any traffic interruptions during this construction work that is improving the Town’s infrastructure.
