CWP Cheverly Woodland Management Project

CHEVERLY WOODLAND MANAGEMENT PROJECT

Prince George's County, in partnership with the Clean Water Partnership (CWP) is launching a woodland management improvement project in the forested areas around Red Maple Run in M-NCPPC's Cheverly East Park and on nearby Town-owned land.

This pilot project, beginning in May 2025, will focus on removing invasive plants from forested areas in M-NCPPC's Cheverly East Park and adjacent Town-owned land. This two-year initiative is supported in part by a National Fish and Wildlife Foundation - Chesapeake Bay Program Small Watershed Grant. The work supports the recent stream restoration project and focuses on protecting the native oak tree canopy along the stream and throughout the park's wooded areas. Notification signage will be posted on site. Work will be limited to forested sections of the park: no invasive species management will take place near the playground or play equipment. RES, LLC, contracted through CWP, will be on the premises during work hours. Updates will be provided regularly through the Town's News and Announcement system.

Please see the map below for project location specifications.
