Citizens are encouraged to participate in the police department's Ride-Along program. The Ride-Along program provides an opportunity for citizens to get to know their police officers, to provide citizens interested in a career in law enforcement an opportunity to examine the job and to educate the community about the responsibilities of police officers. Citizens learn what to expect if they ever have a need to call for police assistance and officers get an opportunity to get to know community members.
Participants are required to sign a waiver and an acknowledgment of Ride-Along rules, with persons under the age of 16 requiring a parent's signature. Ride-Alongs must first be approved by a police department supervisor. To begin the process of scheduling a Ride-Along, please contact the Cheverly Police Department at 301-341-1055.
