Mayor Laila Riazi is calling a Special Meeting of the Mayor and Council at 7:00 pm on
Wednesday, June 10, for an initial “Community discussion of the origins and potential redesign
of our Town Seal.”

Cheverly’s Town Seal features the oldest home in Cheverly, which served as a plantation
beginning in the 1840s. In evaluating our Town Seal against history and today’s understanding,
it is important to engage community, answer questions, and listen to your thoughts on
retaining the current Town Seal or initiating a visioning and redesign process.

If you cannot attend this initial discussion, outreach and engagement will continue through the
Town Newsletter as well as social media and we will hold at least one more, virtual (or inperson,
should conditions support) Special Meeting. As always, your Mayor and
