Noxious Odor Update

As part of the Town’s ongoing pursuit of sourcing the odors residents experienced this past Friday evening, and on into Saturday morning, residents may see WSSC examining areas throughout the Town.

In a conversation with WSSC regarding the issue of the “odor”, Mayor Riazi, again, raised residents’ repeated concerns of brown and foul-smelling water, requested a WSSC investigation, and noted areas of Town that have been most affected.

We will be sharing a more in-depth “News and Announcements” outlining the Town’s advocacy in requesting assistance to track and identify the location and source of the odor permeating areas of the Town this past Friday evening and Saturday morning.

It is important to note that the odor was in no means exclusive to Cheverly. The odor was noted throughout parts of DC and Prince George’s County. What should also be noted is that the Town of Cheverly took immediate action to respond to the concerns of our residents and to keep the community informed of our actions—likely the reason we’ve found ourselves at the center of some recent news items. We can assure you that we will continue to press for answers and will share more as we are able to obtain sound, follow-on information.

Please continue to stay engaged.

Investment and involvement are what makes Cheverly such a wonderful community to call home.
