Christopher R. Wade was elected to serve as the Ward 1 Council Member in May of 2021. Christopher is the first African-American Male elected to fill the Ward 1 seat. With a passion for public service and a commitment to improving the quality of life for all Cheverlians, he brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the community’s needs. Having an educator and pastor as parents, this has led to his motto of “Faith, Family, Education, and Service”, and a commitment to “Progressively Moving Cheverly Forward With A Purpose"

Christopher’s four critical priorities are: Community Engagement, Economic Development, Education, and Public Safety. He is deeply involved in the community, volunteering with organizations and causes, and frequently attends local events to stay connected with residents' concerns and aspirations. Christopher currently serves as the Council Liaison to the Cheverly Recreation Council and served on the Town’s Planning Board. He has sponsored and is a coach for the Cheverly Boys and Girls Club intramural tee ball and basketball leagues. Through these experiences, Christopher’s approach ensures that all voices are heard and represented.

Outside of Cheverly, Christopher has served on multiple boards, including the Board of Directors for the Collaborative Solutions for Communities, a high-impact community development non-profit that provides essential services to marginalized families across the District of Columbia; and the Boston University Dean’s Advisory Board, where he serves as a sounding board for the Dean and the University.

Christopher has enjoyed a diverse career, which includes working in the private sector as an Account Manager for State Street Bank and Trust, and as a Management Consultant for the Department of Homeland Security. His work in Prince George’s County Government consists of serving as a Division Chief that managed the county’s Outreach and Programming Unit. There he worked with residents and key stakeholders throughout the county to resolve issues, including Cheverly officials on noise pollution and traffic issues. He currently works as a School and Community Engagement Advocate for county schools. There he enhances the collaborative and innovative capacity of community organizations, governmental agencies, and families to meet the needs of vulnerable populations throughout the county. Christopher is also a small business owner of a premier event social activation/branding company.

Christopher holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Boston University and a Master of Arts in Public Administration from American International College. He is currently completing his certification from the University of Maryland School of Public Policy, Academy of Excellence in Local Governance. He is a member of Reid Temple A.M.E. Church in Glenn Dale, Maryland and Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Incorporated. He is an avid traveler and enjoys exploring new culinary cuisines. Christopher and his wife Minty, are the proud parents of Savannah, Christopher II, and Maverick.
