Message from the Town Administrator: The Town Hall Facility Is Now Open
Greetings Cheverly,
I’m pleased to report that as of today, our Town Hall reopened, and the gym floor renovation project continues. We anticipate the gym will be fully functional by December 22, 2025; however, we will keep the community updated if the timeline changes.
We closed the facility out of an abundance of caution on November 21 after a worker flagged a possible concern. Thankfully, both a private company we consulted with and a supervisor with the Maryland Department of the Environment reported it is not considered an asbestos-containing material based on NESHAP (federal) and COMAR (Maryland) regulations, but rather the substance is a flooring adhesive. We appreciate the worker's diligence in notifying us.
As we move forward with the remaining construction work, I will be working closely with our contractor to ensure that the site remains tidy and that any disruption to residents is minimized.
