Winter Storm Expected Tonight (Sunday) into Monday
The Town of Cheverly is closely monitoring the winter weather system expected to impact the region today.
Forecast Overview:
• Precipitation is expected to begin as rain today (Sunday) before transitioning to a mix of snow and wintry precipitation this evening as temperatures fall.
• Snow and slick conditions are most likely late tonight into early Monday morning. Accumulation is possible, with travel conditions potentially deteriorating overnight.
• Temperatures will hover near freezing, increasing the likelihood of icy spots on untreated surfaces.
Potential Impacts:
• Roads may become slippery late tonight, particularly during the early Monday morning commute.
• Wet roadways may refreeze overnight, creating icy patches on bridges, sidewalks, and secondary streets.
Preparedness:
Residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts, prepare emergency supplies, refuel vehicles, and check on neighbors and pets. Shovel snow throughout the storm to prevent heavy accumulation that may be difficult to shovel. Please use caution while traveling.

Snow Plowing and Parking
Snow accumulation on roadways is expected, and snow removal operations will be underway. Vehicles should be parked in driveways when possible. If on-street parking is necessary, Town Code Section 27-10, listed below, must be followed.
Snow Plowing Schedule:
Primary streets - these streets receive first attention during snow removal operations. It is the goal of the Town to clear primary streets and have these passable before moving on to other responsibilities (Cheverly Avenue - Forest Road - parkway - Crest Avenue - Belleview Avenue - 63rd Avenue - 64th Avenue - 62nd Avenue - State Street - Lydell Road)
Secondary streets - once primary streets have been cleared, secondary streets will be plowed. The Town's goal is to provide passage on secondary streets before backtracking to primary streets for widening operations. Once secondary streets have passage and primary streets are widened, secondary streets will be widened.
Street Parking During Snow Emergencies per Town Code Section 27-10:
• A snow emergency shall exist whenever snow has accumulated on the streets of the town to a depth of one (1) inch or more.
• During a snow emergency, no person shall cause or allow any vehicle or automobile to be left or parked on the streets as follows:
1. On the cul-de-sac portion of any street;
2. On any courts;
3. On the odd-numbered side of 59th Avenue, the 3200 block of Tremont Avenue, and that portion of Inwood Street between Cheverly Avenue and Belleview Avenue;
4. On the even-numbered side of all other streets; and,
5. On any street except at the curb pursuant to this section.
• The snow emergency parking restrictions outlined above do not:
1. Override existing no-parking zones;
2. Authorize parking where it is prohibited;
3. Apply to those streets or parts of streets where enforcement of this snow emergency ordinance would disallow all parking on the particular street or portion of the street because of a no-parking zone on the side of the street where a car should park pursuant to subsection(c) above, and,
4. Apply to those streets or parts of streets with any barrier or strip dividing the lanes of traffic.
• The parking provisions during a snow emergency shall be effective without any notification and shall remain in effect until the street is plowed; provided, however, that when snow accumulates to a depth of one (1) inch or more after 11:00 p.m., The parking provisions in a snow emergency shall not be effective until 7:00 a.m. the day following and shall remain in effect until the street is plowed.
