Description:
Cheverly Weekday Nursery School has served Cheverly and the surrounding communities for over 30 years. Weekday Nursery is a five-day preschool program with tthree options: 8:45-3:00, 8:45-11:15 and 12:30-3:00. Children 3 to 5 years old are accepted into the program. Classes have 20 students with two teachers.
The school's objective is to give preschoolers a happy beginning to the school experience in a small-group situation with much individual attention. The activities meet the needs of children for social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development, preparing them for entry into kindergarten. The educational program includes arts and crafts, music, literature, cooking, science, social studies activities and field trips.
Classes are held at the Cheverly United Methodist Church at Forest Road and Cheverly Avenue

Description:
The Judith Hoyer Early Childhood Center serves more than 180 students in the Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classrooms. The Hoyer center opened in 1993 in the former Cheverly Tuxedo Elementary School Building, which was closed for several years.
Class sizes are no more than 20 students wtih a teacher and a paraprofessional. the Early Childhood Program highlights a theme based curriculum serving children of various cultural backgrounds. The program features computers in the classroom, library visits weekly, and music and physical education 2-3 times a week.  There is a Montessori style classroom with Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten children.
The J.P. Hoyer Center is named in Honor of the late Judith P. Hoyer, who was Director of Early Childhood Education for Prince George's County.

schools.jpgGladys Noon Spellman Elementary School serves more than 750 students from the attendance area with a comprehensive school curriculum.

The school re-opened in 1991 after a major renovation of the former Happy Acres Elementary school.

Spellman Elementary is named in honor of the late Gladys Noon Spellman, a distinguished resident of Chevely who represented the community on the county school board and county council, and in the U.S. House of Representatives. Mrs. Spellman was a teacher and began her civic involvement as president of this school's PTA.

Description:
St Ambrose opened with four grades in 1950 and expanded to eight by the following year. It's students now number about 250. It has all-day kindergarten and provides before and after school care. The school also offers computer instruction, band, and choir. It has an active Home and School Association.
