According to the 2000 U.S. Census survey, the Town had 2,351 housing units, 75% of which were single-family detached dwellings and 25% of which were multi-family units, including apartments. More than 20% of the Towns housing stock is older than 30 years. Town policy mandates that careful attention be directed to the condition of these dwellings and public improvements be made within these areas in order to maintain the housing quality and a stable neighborhood environment. The Towns Policy is to prevent deterioration and encroachment of commercial and industrial development, thus maintaining property values and neighborhood stability.
