122011_111257_20.jpgThe mission of the Boy Scouts & Cub Scouts is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. What is the Oath? 40 simple words that can transform your son: On my honor, I will do my best, to do my duty, to God and my country, to obey the Scout law, to help other people at all times, to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight. What is the Law? Twelve more simple words that should define everyoneís character: A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent. ChevList is an additional means of communication to serve the entire community, and the latest incarnation of online bulletin board Cheverly List that, since 2005, has served town residents seeking to connect with their neighbors to share information, resources and ideas. Everyone is welcome! ChevList belongs to the subscribers of the list, who are asked simply to treat all members with respect, use their best judgment about what and how often they post, and not to say anything in an email that they wouldn't say to a neighbor in person. This list is not moderated. ChevList encourages businesses and political candidates to share information and events, but simply asks that they share this information responsibly so that our neighbors are not inundated with advertisements.

Progressive Cheverly is "democracy from the ground up!" We are a nonpartisan, grassroots organization founded in 2005 because we believe that the promise of a fair, sane, and safe world requires a more informed, engaged, and active citizenry. We conduct monthly public education programs on current issues and provide opportunities to interact with our elected officials and candidates. We work directly on projects to improve Cheverly's green environment, and other needs in our own backyard. We advocate on selected issues to our elected officials and work with other organizations to improve the quality of life in our community. By a vote of the membership, we occasionally endorse candidates who share our progressive values and our members provide volunteer power to their campaigns. Subscribe to our announcements list here .
