The Mayor and Council Proclaimed April 6, 2005 to be designated as ARBOR DAY in Cheverly. Cheverly takes pride in joining in this national observance every year recognizing the importance of our Urban Forest and celebrating its maintenance and improvement.
Cheverly has again this year very proudly won TREE CITY USA status. Cheverly’s comprehensive community forestry program of retention, enhancement and management of our Urban Forest has met the standards of the National Arbor Day Foundation, the National Association of State Foresters, and USDA Forest Service gaining us the designation of TREE CITY USA for many years.
Mr. Teshome Mathias of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources presented the “Tree City USA” award to the town at our Arbor Day observance and joined town employees who gathered on April 6th for the Arbor Day Tree Planting.
