Thinking of roses and chocolates we wish everyone a loving Valentine’s Day. If you get a miniature rose plant you can save it for the garden…lots of gardeners integrate these little bloomers in their beds and
cutting one for a miniature vase/holder is a mini way of receiving a lot of happiness. If you have a Helleborus…look for the buds, they are there now.
The February 19th meeting will be a really exciting one for the winter blahs…We are going to have
speaker Sara Tengren presenting Native Plants. The Friends of Lower Beaverdam Creek will co-sponsor
this informative slide show…try to be there – 4th floor of the Methodist Church. On February 21st in Fogle Hall there will be a FREE workshop and you will learn to build and take home a rain barrel that will show you a way to conserve resources and save you money. When you are reading the newsletter look for articles about the Friends and what they are doing also.
Remember the Rain Gardens for the Cheverly United Methodist Church parking lot????…well they have been started. Since so many of us LIVE with WATER problems you may want to give this your interest and watch what is happening. Dues are due at the January meeting and if you did not pay $15.00 for the year please bring it to the February meeting.
We need help planning a bus trip and making sure we have enough interest…one place mentioned would be Buffalo Springs in Virginia with a side trip to a winery. When you are digging in your closets and drawers and you find something for the Flea Market in April please save it, that is one of the ways we pay for our speakers and trips. Be careful on the ice, we want to see you at the two meetings/workshops…Think “2 nights out” and a real learning and doing experience. Everyone is welcome.
