Cheverly News and Announcements
From Mayor Callahan
Given the forecast of heavy snow and cold temperatures, Cheverly is developing a plan for the loss of power. While we hope that our grids will be stable given recent Pepco infrastructure upgrades and recent tree trimming, we are concerned about the loss of power to our residents.
FIRST: We ask that each resident reach out to friends in other parts of Cheverly and make plans for a potential power outage. Staying with a friend is the most comfortable option for everyone.
SECOND: We have a plan to have a central warming center. Cheverly Town Hall will be the primary site and we are reaching out to other sites if Town Hall also loses power.
Please remember, the warming centers will serve only as warming centers. You will need to bring blankets, sleeping bags, food, water or other amenities. We cannot promise cooking or other facilities.
We will open the Warming Center when 50 or more homes lose their power. We will send out a News and Announcements announcing the opening of the Warming Center, but if you want to find out if the center is open you may call (301) 887-3854.
