Weekend highlights include:
Starting at 12:01 a.m. Saturday through closing Sunday, buses will replace Orange Line trains between Vienna and East Falls Church stations. All trains running between East Falls Church and New Carrollton will be labeled as “Silver Line”, not Orange Line. All westbound trains will continue along the Silver Line to Wiehle-Reston East after East Falls Church.
Stations closed: Vienna, Dunn Loring and West Falls Church
Free shuttle bus service will operate on two routes:
· Orange Express buses will operate between Vienna and East Falls Church stations with no intermediate stops. Please add up to 25 minutes of travel time.
· Orange Local buses will operate between Vienna and East Falls Church making intermediate stops and Dunn Loring and West Falls Church. Please allow 12-15 minutes of travel time for each station stop.
Starting at 12:01 a.m. Saturday through closing Sunday, trains will operate at regular intervals between Wiehle-Reston East and New Carrollton throughout the weekend. As a result, the following five stations will be served by Blue Line trains only: Largo Town Center, Morgan Boulevard, Addison Road, Capitol Heights and Benning Road.
If traveling to/from a station between Benning Road & Largo Town Center, use a Blue Line train.
Metrorail will open two hours early, at 5 a.m., on Sunday, October 11, for riders traveling to the Army Ten-Miler. The closest Metro stop to the start of the race is Pentagon on the Blue and Yellow lines. Learn more about getting to the race and watch a video online at wmata.com.
On Columbus Day, Monday, October 12, Metrorail will open at 5 a.m. and close at midnight. Trains will operate at Saturday service intervals (every 6 to 12 minutes during daytime hours) and buses will operate on a Saturday supplemental schedule. Off-peak fares will be in effect all day and parking will be free at all Metrorail parking facilities.
This weekend is the “Justice or Else” 20th Anniversary of the Million Man March. The closest Metrorail stations to the event are Union Station, Capitol South, Federal Center SW and Smithsonian. For travel tips and service information, visit wmata.com.
