Widening / Tolling the BW Parkway / 495 / 270
Town of Cheverly
News & Announcements

Attached please find a brochure provided to the town regarding a series of meetings to discuss the expansion of the BW Parkway / Route 495 / Route 270.  The timeline articulated in the brochure is extremely aggressive and the time to express your opinion is now!

Governor Hogan is proposing a Public Private Partnership that will expand the number of lanes on these roadways, but there will be a private component that will indeed create tolling of some sort.

A 2012 study Commissioned by Congressman Ruppersberger (http://flh.fhwa.dot.gov/programs/flpp/studies/documents/bwp-full-report.pdf) regarding the expansion of the BW Parkway showed that increasing the number of lanes would provide minimal benefit to commuters, however that study did not investigate the use of toll lanes.

The Cheverly Town Council will hold a Public Hearing on whether to support or oppose this proposition on Thursday, July 12th during the Town Council Meeting at 8:00PM.  The Town Council welcomes every citizen to come and provide their opinion.  If you are unable to attend please send your feedback to your Town Councilmember and the Mayor.

We are interested in hearing your views on:
- Should the BW Parkway / Route 495 / Route 270 be widened
- Should there be tolls implemented for certain lanes
- What other alternatives should be considered.

The Town is currently reaching out to other municipalities along the BW Parkway and the other impacted highways to identify common grounds upon which we can organize.
